When “Doing Everything Right” Wasn't Enough: How I Rebuilt My System from the Inside Out

We’ve all had those raw moments where we find ourselves begging something greater to save us. I certainly have. I found myself in one of these moments after the birth of my first child — a time that was meant to be full of awe and joy, yet I was faced with severe postpartum depletion that I just couldn’t shake.
Despite doing everything “right”
✅ Nourishing food
✅ Thoughtfully selected herbs and supplements
✅ Prioritizing rest and sleep hygiene
✅ Working with skilled integrative practitioners
Yet, I remained caught in a loop of fragility, dysregulation, and deep weakness.
I kept wondering: Why isn’t this working?
The Answer Was Right Under My Nose
Eventually, the answer became clear. The prolonged stress, extreme sleep deprivation, and overall depletion had strained something deeper: my astral body and nādīs (the subtle energy channels of the body).
The outer inputs I was relying on weren’t reaching the level that had been impacted. It was time to shift gears.
I had to return to the wisdom of the yogis — and strengthen my system from the inside out.
I needed to directly impact my astral body so the healing could actually hold, not just flicker.
So I Did What I Knew Would Work
I pulled up my pants 😅, got honest with myself, and turned to the one thing I knew had the power to reach that depth: sādhanā — disciplined, yogic practice.
I chose four simple techniques that I knew were effective and manageable in my depleted state. I committed to just 15 minutes per day.
That’s it. No heroic effort. No perfect morning routine. Just consistency and intention.
And day by day, I climbed out of that fragile state.
It Wasn’t Overnight — But It Was Real
Was it an instant fix? No. Nothing real ever is.
It took about 2–3 months (and I consider that fast), but I had already spent far longer trying all the “right” things with very little to show for it. This was a massive win.
As my astral body regained strength, I was able to expand my sādhanā and integrate deeper layers of yogic and Āyurvedic wisdom — not just to return to normal, but to rebuild a foundation of lasting vitality.
That moment changed everything for me.
The Deeper Realization
In that darkness, an abrupt knowing unfolded in me:
The gentle, modern nervous-system practices we so often reach for — while beautiful, valuable, and very much needed — wouldn’t have saved me.
This is not a dig. I honour those practices deeply. But yogic tools are not meant to be used in isolation. They are tools of consciousness, and their real power lies in knowing what to use when, and how to arrange them wisely.
Without the inner strength of the astral body, it’s incredibly difficult to hold onto the benefits of those gentler practices long-term. The body and mind require resilience, not just relief.
Maybe You Can Relate
Now, this is just my story, but astral body weakness can arise from a variety of sources:
Chronic stress
Sleep loss
Emotional trauma
Burnout
Constitutional tendencies for imbalance
Or simply prolonged overexertion or neglect
Your story may not be identical to mine. But maybe you’ve experienced symptoms that echo mine — that unshakable fragility, the sense that things just aren’t sticking no matter what you try.
If so, know this: it is possible to rebuild.
